Dubrovnik, Croatia: Radisson Blu Resort and Spa

My husband and I had tea with Michelle Hammond, the Leisure and Spa Director for Radisson Blu Resort and Spa in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Her enthusiasm for the spa industry was catching. "I love it. People come in tired and sore and only ask to feel better. And, we can do that. I ask my therapists to judge the needs of their guests so that everyone receives individualized treatment and leaves feeling wonderful. It is a great job." Michelle has opened many high end spas including the spa at the five-star Radisson which opened on July 1, 2009. The Radisson in partnership with Anne Semonin of Paris has created one of the largest spas on the Dalmatian coast. Along with a state-of-the-art fitness center, the spa offers seven treatment rooms featuring Anne Semonin treatments, three station nail zones, two luxury couple suites nestled around an outdoor hot tub, a Thalassotherapy Spa Bath, a sun terrace, a quiet room, a tepidarium with five individual stone loungers, a thermal area providing a cool sauna, a salt sauna, and a hammam, aromatherapy steam room and a large cold plunge pool and lifestyle showers, hydrotherapy pool with therapeutic massage jets, an inner spa garden, a juice bar with sun terrace, and a lagoon pool with underwater vitality jet loungers at the poolside loungers with stunning views of the Adriatic and islands. What more could anyone want? The individualized treatments create a sense of peace and harmony. As Michelle explained, "If people capture the spirit of relaxation, take care of their body then it will take care of one’s mind and soul and people will gain a sense of peace and harmony."

The stylish Radisson has a wonderful location on the Adriatic with views of several islands with easy access by shuttle bus and boat to the historic city of Dubrovnik. Besides the first class spa, the resort features three pools, a marina, and several excellent restaurants. The minimalist design is accented with colorful artwork by Croatian artists. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with oleander and olive trees but it is the roof of the spa that catches the eye with free form gardens scattered across the roof covered with gleaming white pebbles. The Radisson Blu Resort and Spa is the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring the historic walled city of Dubrovnik and watch the sun set on the Adriatic.
